Good morning! It’s day three. Today I thought I’d suggest that you take time to do something you love every single day. That’s one way you can take care of yourself during this time.
If at all possible, find time to engage with something that you love each day that’s just for you. It doesn’t have to be massive, it can be small. Maybe it’s reading a chapter of a book, or sticking the record player on and dancing like you really mean it. Playing an instrument if you have one. Lighting a candle and enjoying a bath. Ring your Mum/ Dad/ best friend and have a chat for half an hour, if that will make you feel good. Jumping on the trampoline. Lying on a trampoline and watching the clouds roll by. Whatever genuinely floats your boat. Whatever it is you decide to do, be sure to claim that little piece of positive space in the day that is just for yourself.
And here is the important part YOU HAVE TO PROTECT THAT TIME – I do this by writing “protected time” in my phone calendar and setting an alert. Then I ask the others sharing this space to respect that time – I’m clear that I need it and I don’t want to be interrupted.
It is really not selfish to do this. It’s the fuel you need to fill your tank. You need to look after yourself in order to be able to look after others. Don’t let your tank run dry. Take care of yourself.
